Yeeeeeaaaaahhhhh..... er..... Thats right, Daemonum did a runner in the middle of the night and I was left stranded with my trusty, trendy glasses and a bottle of whiskey. Honestly, the whiskey and the fact that I hated the look of the place, had absolutely nothing to do with it. Or it could of been the huge prim limit Linden Labs implemented in one of their many, many server updates recently, that Jaquina Pera pointed out I might add. So yup! When that came into effect, the sims were in lock down because I'd gone over the normal dosage.
First let me start by saying "SORRY!!!!!!", lol I've been booting people out of my sims for a month now whilst the rebirth commences, so I have to say sorry because everyones been especially nice about me giving them a wedgy and tossing them out on their ear.
The reason being is because of the amount of trouble I've had in the last few months with copybot ( :S ) and I'd rather not have my entire estate done over before its even finished (Boo Hoo!), so thats a big no no area and why I've been so blunt with people... Well, I say blunt, I hope I've been respectful to people having a nosey.
Anyways -
With all the amazing sims that are popping up all over the place like rabbits after some hearty, crack-filled carrots, such as:
Black Knight
Doomed Ship
Insilico
Ava Marie - Although I'm not sure of the actual sim name
And so on...
I thought I'd stop getting jealous... I mean 'inquisitive' and do some soul searching into something I would like to do, rather than free-styling an entire sim and it coming out looking like a 1940's Steam Punk representation of Around The World In 80 Days Extravaganza!!!! As Daemonum did in the end, minus Phileas Fog, Pierce Brosnan in his early days and possibly every element to the original story.
Enter good ol' Maya and her lovely way of making a prim pretty... oh so pretty...
I decided to do alot and I mean ALOT of baking for this project and when I'd finished making cookies for my daughters and wife, I got onto baking with the magical Raytrace, and his mates La Ambience Occlusion, Specular, Env_Reflection, Bump and the rest of the posse. Just to add, Sampling and photons aren't getting a mention because they're been really bad boys this week.
The sims story and all the rest of the gubbins I will get to once they're completed. Anything below 1000m is still off limits please remember, you'll know when its no longer in affect when the lag meter destroys your client.
When done and dusted, I'll be moving onto the second phase of all this crap, which will be the website. I've been developing a combat system (For got sake someone smack him about and tell him to get off the damn combat system love train!!!), but was reluctant to release it, as I really, really, really, extremely wanted to have it external server based, but lacked the knowledge behind PHP and SQL. So, I've been learning them over the last few weeks, SQL is a piece of piss really, so that came quite easily as its more like broken English than anything. PHP will probably take a while longer as I'm not a coder, but hey, I can type, so thats a start.
More crap to fill up my brain with... I do blame my insatiable itch for learning everything on my primary school teachers (Apart from Mrs Web), as when I ten years old, I didn't even know where the British Isles was... And, I'm British.
It'll also house other things beside combat system goodies, like obviously a forum, the new blogs so people can actually post without having to bloody join up (Damn you VOX!!!), SL Video Tutorials from basic understanding to working with Photoshop, Maya and other programs you may want to know about like, Flash, Illustrator, Indesign, Quark, QuickTime 360, Adobe AIR, Reason... Anything you could possible want to learn to help you create and better your brands in SL, or to simply just learn for hobbyists.
Right! Enough Rambling!!! Heres the pics of a not even half baked (pardon the pun) sim.
Some points to remember: The pop cans are one prim, including the ring-pull, the plastic trash bags are one prim, look at some of the details on the roads, traffic lights, electrical poles, mechanics and so on. There's probably loads of details you wont notice, but I know they're there!
