Just been messing around in Second Life for the last day or so, not really bothering too much with it considering, but I did manage to create something thats quite impressive for piccies, thus say hello to prim grass. Due to the long time conflict with layering alpha, it does flicker a tad on cam rotation, but its something I'd live with, just because it looks pretty.
I made some one prim dead trees, as you can see in the pic, after a few minutes of tinkering with the environmental settings, I made this moody scene.
It also gives a clue in what I'm excited about at the moment, which is the new virtual metaverse platform that is Blue Mars Online ,which sounds at first glance like a anime-rock mmo, but is in-fact a virtual world explorer.
Through reading some of the features it has, a big one being the CryEngine2 sandbox editor and also the added bonus of the restriction to item duplication for small time content creators. Unfortunately, this platform will require its 'city' builders to design their items within 3DSM, Maya and industrial strength programs, but from this downside can atleast bring high quality goods, coupled with the CryEngine, I really think this will be the next generation of metaverse traversing.
... I just spent 3 paragraphs ranting about SL and decided to delete them, I used to love it so much, now I can hardly pull myself in to do anything. Lets hope Blue Mars lives up to the hype... or at least LL gain a bit more respect for its residents.
Like a good friend of mine said, "I've never been in an MMO or Virtual World, where its users hate the creators as much as they do in Second Life"...
